I am not sure why the names "Karen" and "Ken" and "Becky" were chosen to depict the very worst examples of racist thought and behavior. It is a constant thorn in my side, since I have been an antiracist for most of my 70 year old life. Do I change my name? Or do I forge on fighting the ravages of systemic racism despite my name? I swallow my hurt and fight on, just like all my role models have done for centuries. Because I love and care about the dreams of MLK, RFK, BHO, MLRO, John Lewis, and other dreamers who inspired me to never give up fighting for justice and peace until God calls me Home when MY work is done.
