I was not born in Africa, but Africa was born in me. I claim my African ancestors because Africa was the cradle of civilization and we are all descendants of those who left there and spread throughout the world. We are all connected to one human family and are members of one human race who share our common humanity with the added gift of God's creative diversity, which is evident through all species of life. Whiteness is a social construct. Perhaps our biggest mistake throughout human history as so-called "white people" is not seeing others in ourselves and ourselves in others. Brotherhood and sisterhood are wonderful and powerful concepts. Perhaps we all should give agape love a try. Live the Dream of MLK.
