It's hard to stay in a relationship with a 40 year old adult child who acts like he hates you. Calling you names. Then the next day being loving and remorseful for incidents he says he cannot remember---because he is also an alcoholic as well as bi-polar. I can relate from the perspective of being a mom that loves her child but is powerless over his mental illness and addictions.
